Data
Within the project we used ENVISAT/AATSR SST for correcting SEVIRI and Metop-A/AVHRR SST. Due to the ENVISAT/AATSR failure we also analysed bias correction od SEVIRI data using Metop-A/AVHRR. Results are validated with buoy data (available also in L3C format) but also with AATSR/ENVISAT data due to the lack of in situ data over certain sub-domains. All data we used were produced by our project partner (Meteo-France, CMS) and were retrieved through MyOcean data center in L3C format.
In the beginning we had problems with retrieving data over MyOcean, due to the error in their data extraction application. Here is detailed description (available on blog).
Initial quality control screening based on monthly number of observations for each dataset and over the period from 10/2010 - 03/2012:
